Runner (2026)
Overview
Runner is a high-octane action thriller starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson.
Plot Summary
The Protagonist & Mission:
Hank Malone (Alan Ritchson) is a former soldier and recovering alcoholic working as a courier ("runner") who takes on high-risk transport jobs using his combat skills and physical presence.
He is tasked by his handler, Iggy, with picking up a crucial package at the airport and delivering it to a designated drop-off point. The Encounter:
Upon arrival, Hank meets Ben Bishop (Owen Wilson), a medical courier transporting a rare human organ—a donor liver—intended for a terminally ill young girl awaiting an emergency transplant at a hospital.
The Conflict:
Shortly after securing the organ, Hank and Ben realize they are being relentlessly pursued by heavily armed Colombian cartel thugs.
The cartel members, connected to a powerful boss whose associates were killed over the donor organ, attempt to hijack the transport and retrieve the liver at all costs. The Climax & Resolution:
As they navigate chaotic car chases and intense gunfights, Hank realizes that Iggy's phone contains a tracking device leading the cartel directly to them.
Hank outsmarts the pursuers by discarding the tracked phone into a random passing truck, giving them enough breathing room to reach safety. In a brutal final showdown, Hank leverages his military background to eliminate the remaining cartel enforcers, ensuring Ben arrives at the hospital in time.
The life-saving surgery is successful, and Hank—having found a sense of redemption—leaves his dangerous line of work to start fresh.
